MSA and Apps

Recently at PhysioTim .;-) I’ve been going to him for 6 years, he’s the only one that wasn’t replaced last summer. After he got an update about the last 3 months, we briefly discuss what would be good for me. It’s the back pain along with the heat that’s killing me right now. And then he tells me that he recently found a report that could possibly reduce my problem by giving me a fixed beat. And then I looked around a little. They were designed more for Parkinson’s patients but you can pick out what is helpful for you.

My therapy: reminder of taking the tablets, including buying more tabletts and evaluating the medication, blood pressure, weight, etc. A complete therapy management, so to speak.

Targeted exercises that maintain flexibility for as long as possible. The “MoveApp” for therapy accompaniment is tailored to Parkinson’s patients and supports movement training through special exercises and a movement protocol. The app also offers information on Parkinson’s disease itself and a medication overview with reminder function. Other apps such as “iPhysio” and “Therapio” can also be used for Parkinson’s PT. Both apps were developed primarily for therapists who can work out an optimal training plan for the patient on the basis of the app and make it available to their users. Draw your practice’s attention to this possibility or simply use the test version yourself for training at home.

The voice also becomes quieter and more monotonous in MSA patients over time, pronunciation becomes more blurred and speech speed increases. The “Better Speak” app trains rhetoric and provides patients with a good opportunity to work on a clearer pronunciation. A recording function makes it possible to listen to what has been said. This draws attention to concrete problems. Thus one has a concrete clue and can work purposefully on the improvement of the pronunciation. All in all, it can be enormously helpful to record what you have spoken yourself in order to improve pronunciation in a targeted way – this is not only true for professional speakers. Therefore, recording apps such as “Smart Recorder” or “Dictaphone” are also recommended for patients.

Of course, the head also needs to be trained. With the help of scientists, the two apps “Peak” and “NeuroNation” were developed, which playfully promote memory, concentration and logic. Personalized workouts enable targeted training of mental fitness. The “Einstein Brain Trainer” app also offers customizable exercises and daily tests to check progress. The simple and intuitive handling of the app and the large user interface also encourage people with neurological impairments to use the app.

In hazardous situations, emergency call apps that trigger an alarm at the touch of a button, notify rescue personnel and also inform relatives are valuable. No complicated key combinations are necessary. So even people who live alone can feel a little safer.

This app contributes to Parkinson’s research.Apps also make a contribution to Parkinson’s research. Since Parkinson’s usually develops slowly and can remain undetected for a long time, the makers of “iPrognosis” want to ensure that the disease is diagnosed early. The users of the app are healthy people and those who are in an early stage of Parkinson’s disease. They can help to improve therapy in the future. The scientists will use interaction data from the smartphone as a basis for research into early detection tests. These will help researchers to better understand the development, course and development of Parkinson’s and to be able to specifically treat the disease in the future.
